Hidden Web Design Costs

Professional Web Design can be expensive. Sometime the one off costs to build a website seem to be fairly reasonable. But this is only a part of the actual ongoing costs.

Some of the hidden costs that some website designers may forget to tell you about are:

Ongoing Website Updates - Now if your web Designer has designed your site using pure HTML coding or some other complicated web design or CMS (content management system) you may need to employ your website designer again and again to constantly keep your website content up to date. Now most website designers charge an hourly rate which can be as much as £40 or more to make changes (with a minimum of half an hour charged). This can prove to be costly if you are making small changes or frequent changes.

Website Server Costs - the cost to host the website on a server. This is usually charged monthly or yearly and could be as much as £180 pounds per year.

Website Domain Registration Costs - If you have not already registered a domain name ensure your website designer registers the domain name for as long as possible. generally the longer your register a domain name for the cheaper the yearly costs. (please note: Google prefers domain names that are registered for longer) But you also need to make sure it does not run out - expire!

Additional Website Email Addresses - This can be an additional cost with your domain name registrar or domain host. generally they charge again a monthly or yearly cost with multiple email addresses carrying further discounts.
